The All New 2022 Kia K5 EX delivers High Performance & Many More.

Overview

The redesigned 2022 Kia K5 is a family sedan with an exciting design and 290-hp engine option that alludes to something sexier. The former Kia Optima isn’t about to take on its excellent perennial rival, Honda Accord. Still, this car’s roster of popular equipment makes it worth considering for those looking at prices under $30k. The 2022 Sedan is a comfortable, safe ride that has been named to our Editors’ Choice list. It comes standard with active safety features and infotainment tech for the driver’s needs in their quest for perfection! Plus, it has an attractive interior that will leave your passengers satisfied. The K5 GT offers a choice of two engines: one to draw in customers with its souped-up engine and spinning antics, or another that’s largely inoffensive but only accessible via all-wheel drive. Despite the driver’s seat is too high and ride isolation negatively impacted by its most oversized available wheel-and-tire combo, overall, this 2022 K5 sedan is impressive. Whether buying for yourself or your family, it will still perform well on any road conditions you throw at it.

Where 2022 Kia K5 Ranks

  1. Honda Accord starting at 27,315 dollars
  2. Hyundai Sonata starting at 25,195 dollars
  3. Kia K5 starting at 24,815 dollars
  4. Toyota Camry starting at 26,420 dollars
  5. Nissan Altima starting at 25,675 dollars
  6. Subaru Legacy starting at 23,990 dollars

What’s New for 2022?

Kia has a new logo for 2022, and the car is more affordable than ever before. In addition, there are additional standard features across all models in their lineup, including front-drive LXS with rear-seat USB charge ports.

With the new GT-Line, you can get an all-wheel-drive for a base price of $1600 instead of last year’s special edition, which was only available with an 8-inch touch screen and now includes a 10.3″ infotainment system as standard equipment. The front-drive GT Line models now come equipped with a wireless smartphone charger on board. The EX and GT get new 360 degree cameras, power-folding exterior mirrors, and parking sensors.

Pricing & Which One to Buy

From the GT’s luxurious cabin to its exciting handling, there are many reasons why this car is a must-have. Those who want the all-weather traction of full-wheel drive can purchase a GT Line model for an extra $1600. The 290hp engine and all-wheel drive come standard on both models, which means that you’ll never have an issue getting where ever your heart desires! But if actual performance isn’t what matters most in life, then consider choosing one of their sporty styles like “GT Line instead.” With just enough extra power from its 3-liter v6 engine combined with classy styling details such as fastback glass mirror finishes or 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

2022 Kia K5 EX Price starts around $29,715. Every GT-Line is derived standard with a sportier body kit, 18″ wheels and a power driver’s seat.

The model also includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel and wireless smartphone charging for your convenience. We’d also get the Premium package, including adaptive cruise control and advanced forward-collision warning. It is an excellent option for those who need to stay safe on their way home from work or school. The vehicle will have a full LED headlight, sky roof, panoramic sunroof, and a heated steering wheel.

Engine, Transmission & Performance

The K5 is a sophisticated yet fuel-efficient family car that can go anywhere you want with its standard all-wheel-drive option. It’s powered by an efficient 180hp turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder engine paired with eight-speed automatic transmission for a smooth driving experience on any terrain or weather condition. However, it is not available for the GT model. We drove the front-drive, 180hp K5, around town, and it was impressive at performing tasks. Our testing showed a 7 second trip to 60 mph, but when we went on highways with higher speeds (street), It needed more time for passes because there is not enough power available from this vehicle’s engine. The full-Monty K5 is outfitted with various performance features, including bigger brakes and wider tires on more giant 19-inch rims. The model’s powerful 2.5-liter turbo-four generates 290 horses alongside its exclusive eight-speed automatic (with a wet dual-clutch like in Hyundai Sonata N Line).

The sportiest K5 also comes with fitted bigger brakes and suspension tunes wrapped up into an incredible package designed for those looking to take on any road conditions without fear or hesitation. Though the hi-Po Hyundai wore optional summer tires, it performed better than its Kia counterpart.

Fuel Economy & Real-World MPG

The 2022 K5 comes with the base four-cylinder engine, and front-wheel drive earns up to 29 mpg in towns and 38+mpg on the Highway. However, when all-wheel is added, it drops down 25 miles per gallon for a car that costs more than these competitors at $400 less expensive. It means that this vehicle has very similar gas mileage figures as both Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry. The K5 GT is the least efficient of all our tested vehicles at 24mpg City and 32 highway. However, it returned an impressive 43 mpg on 75 mph test road–beating its government rating by 5. The K5’s fuel efficiency is excellent, resulting in 36 mpg. For more information about the GT’s performance on fuel economy, see what EPA has to say.

Interior, Comfort & Cargo

2022 Kia K5 EX Interior looks impressive for how much it costs. The layout of this car is both sophisticated and straightforward. It has an attractive cabin fitted with wood trim on the dashboards door handles. The K5 offers a luxurious and comfortable ride with its upscale interior features. Ambient lighting on the dashboard, heated seats for your comfort during cold weather or long drives, panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging pad. The driver’s seat feels high even at its lowest point, but the comfortable spot for your left foot and floor-hinged accelerator are nice touches. The backseat also provides generous legroom; there’s plenty of space in terms of luggage too! We managed to fit seven carry-on suitcases back there.

Infotainment & Connectivity

When it comes to in-car technology, there’s no stopping the K5. This luxurious 5th generation SUV features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that shares a bezel with your gauge cluster and 10 3 diagonal screens for ultimate visibility. Both are available on any model starting at the GT Line trim level. Not only does this vehicle come standard equipped, but it also offers physical buttons behind steering wheel chords, so you don’t have to necessarily switch out gear levers or reach around trying sleight touchy surfaces while driving down the road. While the smaller display offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, oddly, it does not work with a corded connection. However, this upgraded unit has customizable profiles and can connect two Bluetooth devices at once. If you’re looking for an interactive audio experience, the K5 is worth checking out with its 12 speaker Bose sound system.

Safety & Driver-Assistance Features

The Kia S5 is not just a family sedan; it offers an extensive list of standard and optional driver-assistance technology. Crash test results from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety are available on their respective websites.

Significant safety features include:

  • Standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking
  • Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
  • Available blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert

Warranty & Maintenance Coverage

Kia’s warranties are some of the most comprehensive in this industry, with a long list that includes complimentary scheduled maintenance. Their powertrain coverage stands out as one of only two lengthy automaker guarantees aside from their corporate sibling Hyundai Motor Company.

  • The limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty covers ten years or 100,000 miles

No complimentary scheduled maintenance
